Industry forum to discuss responses to recognised standard 22

Commissioner for Resources Safety and Health Kate du Preez said the Response to recognised standard 22 industry forum hosted by the Coal Mining Safety and Health Advisory Committee would be an opportunity for the coal mining industry to openly collaborate and share learnings.

“Recognised standard 22 states ways to achieve an acceptable level of risk in relation to the development, implementation, and maintenance of a management structure at a Queensland coal mine,” Kate said.

“The forum will focus on the good, the bad and the ugly and presenters will share their own experiences in overcoming challenges and provide practical and risk-based strategies to ensure practicable implementation of recognised standard 22.

“Representatives from Resources Safety and Health Queensland will provide an introduction to the recognised standard and present the results of an audit conducted at all coal mines.

“Other presenters will share their lessons about implementing the recognised standard and identify gaps, challenges and present various solutions which attendees can take back to their operations.”

Kate said the forum would be held from 9am to 2pm on Wednesday 8 November 2023 with sessions being held simultaneously in Brisbane and in Emerald.

“Attendees in Emerald will be able to view and interact with the presentations via video conference,” she said.

“There is no cost to attend, but tickets are limited so get in quickly to secure your spot.”
