Coal Mining Safety and Health Advisory Committee
The Coal Mining Safety and Health Advisory Committee (CMSHAC) advises the Minister on the safety and health of coal mine workers by:
- giving advice and making recommendations about promoting and protecting the safety and health of persons at coal mines and persons who may be affected by coal mining operations
- periodically reviewing the effectiveness of the control of risk to any person from coal mining operations
- recognising, establishing and publishing the coal mining competencies that are required to perform certain roles or tasks
- developing a 5-year strategic plan for improving the safety and health of people at coal mines and people who may be affected by coal mining operations
- identifying and prioritising critical risks to the safety and health of people at coal mines and people who may be affected by coal mining operations and providing advice to the coal mining industry about those risks
- providing information to the Minister about the performance of the regulator.
Members
The committee members represent the Queensland Government, coal mine workers and coal mine operators. Members are appointed for terms of up to 3 years by the Minister and there is no limit to the number of terms members can serve.
